Analysis of complex mixtures with gas chromatography coupled with high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC-HRTOFMS) can produce a large amount of data, and database search alone is. A new software program is developed for a new GC-HRMS system that combines all of the available information from database search, molecular formula determination, and retention index matching with statistical analysis. Small differences between two similar Scotch whisky samples are identified to illustrate the analytical workflow.
