CRYO ARM™ 300 II for cryo-EM in structural analyses of proteins and viruses

Thursday, April 8th, 2021 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT

We will present JEOL’s latest electron cryo-microscope, the CRYO ARM™ 300 II. This microcope features critical improvements such as a new cold field emission gun and a new in-column Omega energy filter aimed at improving the attainable resolution and throughput. Using Kohler-type illumination the improvements result in a 1.29Å resolution map of apo-ferritin and a never before achieved acquisition rate of 20,000 images/day, thus realizing the elucidation in both general Life Sciences and the pharmacological sector of 4-5 projects per day, start to finish.

Who should attend?

  • Those interested in gaining a broader knowledge of TEM and enhancing their imaging results.

About the Presenter:

Dr. Jaap Brink, TEM Biological Applications Manager

Dr. Brink obtained his Ph.D. in 1988 in the Netherlands under guidance of professor Ernst van Bruggen, he moved to Houston, where he worked till 2002 as a research associate, a post-doctoral position, at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas under professor Wah Chiu.
